I am so excited to finally share my first post on this new blog! For today, I just want to introduce myself, and give you a little bit of information about me. I always consider my readers my friends, and therefore I would love it if you would consider me one of yours! However, I know it is hard to call someone your friend if you know nothing about them, so I’ll try to give you some background information so that you know who I am.

My name is Mackenzie—on almost everything on the internet I go by Mackenzie Carol—and I am currently a senior at Columbia International University about to graduate with a degree in Bible and in Global Business Development. My lifelong dream is to one day own a tea and coffee shop/baked goods café/bookstore kind of combination, and hopefully one day after I’ve graduated I’ll be able to make that a reality. Oh, and my other lifelong dream is to be a published author. We’ll see if anything ever comes of that as well.

I think I have loved to write my entire life, but I know that I have always loved to read. Honestly, my love for reading is probably what inspires my love for writing, and that may be why I write a lot about what I read. Though that could also be because I absolutely love to share books with others, to recommend great reads and see them love them as much as I did. So, if you’re ever looking for a great recommendation, you know where to look. I also used to blog over at spreadinghisgrace.blogspot.com, and there are tons of book reviews you can check out over there as well.

Another thing I absolutely love to do is bake. I enjoy cooking too, but baking is my passion. If I could, I’d make cupcakes constantly, so you can expect to see lots of pictures of them here or on my social media. There’s just something about coming up with unique, interesting cupcake flavors, baking them, and then making them look so pretty you (almost) don’t want to eat them. Lately, I’ve decided I want to start learning how to make macarons; hopefully that turns out just as well as the cupcakes.

Honestly, I actually have a lot of hobbies–reading, baking, cross stitch, knitting, painting, playing the piano or guitar, board games, watching sports, vacationing (is that a hobby???)—but that is because I am really good at finding things I like, mastering them just enough to be able to say that I know how to do it, and then moving on to something else. What can I say, there are a lot of fun activities to be involved in!

Before I start rambling, let me tell you about three of the most important things—or should I say people—in my life who have made me who I am today.

First is Jesus. My parents raised me and my three siblings in a Christian home, so I have gone to church for as long as I can remember, and I am so grateful to my parents for instilling faith in me at a very young age. Although I’ve had lots of ups and downs in my life, from self-esteem issues to my rebellious stage to the transition of becoming a “grown-up” with a life and faith to call my own, Jesus has always been a constant in my life. Without Him, I have no idea where I would be, and I have no desire to find out. My faith is and always has been a big part of me, and that will be something you see often on this blog.

Second is my family. Even though I just mentioned them when talking about Jesus, I have to give them their own paragraph because of everything they have done for me. While we have our ups and downs, and sometimes they drive me absolutely crazy, they are the reason I am who I am today, for better or for worse, and they deserve the credit for that.

The third is my boyfriend, Bryce. Although he hasn’t been in my life nearly as long as Jesus—or my family—I have to mention him here because he is part of the reason that I am even beginning this new blogging journey. No one could ever in a million years come close to being as wonderful, supportive, and loving as Bryce is, and I cannot help but brag on him a bit. He always pushes me to do the things I love and want to do—even when I feel too scared to do them—and I know that every step of the way he will be cheering me on as I begin this journey, and every other journey I take for the rest of my life.

So, that’s a little bit about me! I hope you’re looking forward to this blog as much as I am, and I really hope that you will come back to visit often! You are always welcome here, and I really want to hear from you! I love reading people’s comments, so always feel free to comment whenever you like, whether it’s about the post itself, something you would love for me to write about, questions about what books to read, or even just to say hi.

As always, may God bless you,

and happy reading!

Mackenzie Carol

Yes! If you go to my home page and scroll to the bottom, there’s a subscribe button where you can type in your email address! You’re so sweet, I’m so glad you liked it!

  2. You are one awesome young lady! I hope and pray your dreams come true. Owning a tea/coffee shop with cupcakes sounds like a dream come true for you. I know if you want it you will do all you can to accomplish whatever it takes to get it. Providing of course, this would be God’s plan for you or He will give you the desires of your heart! Either way He will bless you and you will be a blessing to others just as you are now!
