High Five For Friday

Happy Friday! I cannot believe it’s already the weekend again. Normally I would be really glad, but this weekend it’s a little bittersweet because my boyfriend Bryce will be gone on a youth retreat. Though I suppose that will be good for me so that I actually get more homework done rather than spending the whole weekend with him like I typically do.

So, let’s have a little bit of High Five for Friday happiness! One of my biggest highlights from this week was the arrival of my graduation tassel. Even though it is such a small thing, it signifies the fact that I have actually survived 4 years of college and in less than a month and a half I will graduate and leave school behind forever, so I am thrilled to have it.

Another highlight is baseball! Opening Day was yesterday, and I couldn’t be more excited that the season has finally started. Baseball is one of my all-time favorite sports (I can’t decide between baseball and football), and I just really love watching it. Although college baseball has been back for a while and I’ve been watching that, it just isn’t the same as watching MLB. And my team, the Cleveland Indians are way overdue for a World Series win, so maybe this will finally be our year.

What else have I been enjoying lately? Sundays. Sundays are glorious days. For the past month or two, I have been going to church on Sunday mornings with Bryce, and then we both go to lunch with a number of our sweet friends. After lunch I spend the afternoon with Bryce, taking walks, going out and doing things just enjoying each other’s company, before we go back to church and help out with the youth group. The community that we get to be a part of at Riverbend Community church is one of God’s greatest blessings, and getting to worship God and enjoy my Sabbath with Bryce is one of my favorite things.

Something else that I love: audiobooks. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a very avid reader, but life often comes in and steals all my reading time. However, I am always driving. So audiobooks have become my new best friend. I can still work on “reading” the books on my To Be Read list by listening while I’m driving or doing laundry or whatever, and it doesn’t keep me from accomplishing all of the other things I am supposed to be doing. Right now, I am listening to The Sea Keeper’s Daughters by Lisa Wingate and it is fantastic.

For my fifth and final highlight for this High Five for Friday, I’m going to mention something that ordinarily would never have a place on this list: March Madness brackets. Although I do think that they are relatively fun and a good way to encourage friendly (hopefully) competition, I wouldn’t normally list them as one of the highlights of my week. This year, however, I am not just a part of a bracket group with Bryce and our friends, but my dad, one of my sisters, and my brother have actually joined in on the fun. I have enjoyed this SO much because it has given me something to spend time with them talking about joking with each other over, and I really love that.

All in all, I’d say it’s been a fantastic week! I can’t wait for the next one.

Have a great weekend!
