About the Book

Title: Midnight on the River Grey
Author: Abigail Wilson
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
Release Date: July 2, 2019
Genre: Historical Suspense/Gothic Romance

She knew the house was keeping secrets. If only the darkness would speak…

After her elder brother’s mysterious death, Rebecca Hunter vows to expose the man she believes responsible: Mr. Lewis Browning—known by the locals as the Midnight Devil and by Rebecca as her new guardian.

Summoned to his reclusive country estate to await her London season, Rebecca plans her own secret investigation among the darkened corridors of the mysterious Greybourne Hall. Yet Lewis Browning is not as she once imagined, and his motivation is horribly unclear. Recurrent nightmares and Rebecca’s restless feelings are further complicated by the shadow of her mother’s prior descent into madness and wondering if she, too, will follow the same heartbreaking path.

Even as midnight rides, strange injuries, and further murders lead back to Mr. Browning, Rebecca can’t ignore the subtle turn of her heart. Has she developed feelings for the man she swore to see hanged? And moreover, can she trust him with her uncertain future?

Hello! I know that normally at this time of the month I will share about everything I have read that month in one post, but this month it is going to be a little different. Since I have been busy, I unfortunately only had the chance to finish two books this month, though they were both very enjoyable which at least made my two books worth it. And the best part about the books I read this month is that both of them were books that I was given the chance to be an influencer for! I shared about The Number of Love last week, and now I’m sharing about the other fantastic novel I read this month.

Midnight on the River Grey is the first book I have ever read by Abigail Wilson, and I have to say, I am very impressed. Every once and a while I try a new author and then never go back to read anything else they have written, but I know that will not be the case with Abigail. This story was so captivating, so real, that I just couldn’t put it down, and I enjoyed every single second of reading it. There were so many twists and turns, so many unexpected events, that I was enraptured and dying to figure out how everything would end. The plotline, the mystery surrounding this story was perfectly written, and I really loved every moment of it.

The other aspect of this story that I couldn’t help but love was Lewis Browning. Oh how quickly he climbed the ranks of my all-time fictional characters! But that is all that I will say, because I definitely do not want to spoil anything that happens between the pages of this novel. There are so many unexpected aspects of this story, many of which are related to Lewis and everything going on in his past and future, so I will keep everything that I have discovered to myself. Needless to say, keep an eye on Lewis when you read this book.

All in all, Midnight on the River Grey is a novel that I am very glad I had the opportunity to read, and I know that I will read it again at some point in the future. Abigail Wilson wove together a captivating story that kept me guessing until the very end, and I have added her to my must-read authors list because of it. I happily give this story all five bookshelves, and I highly recommend it as a novel very worth reading!

Happy reading!
